Thierry Lavoie Eng MaSc
President, Principal Engineer
Dr. Thierry Lavoie is a highly experienced geological engineer with a robust background spanning over 18 years across consulting, research and development, technical services and support, and academia. Throughout his career, he has contributed to more than 150 consulting projects across 50 mine sites, demonstrating his versatility and expertise in the field. Dr. Lavoie specializes in advanced numerical modelling and geomechanical mine design, areas in which he has developed profound knowledge and innovative techniques. His experience includes applying complex numerical methods to address challenging geotechnical problems and to optimize mine and support design, contributing to safer, more efficient mining operations. Dr. Lavoie has worked with multiple mining methods, including block caving, sub-level caving, stoping (AVOCA, long hole, shrinkage), open pits, room-and-pillar and cut-and-fill at all phases of projects, from scoping and pre-feasibility to feasibility and operational stages. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Canada, holding a license in the Province of Quebec.
